Need a speaker for your Club or Civic Organization? We at L-Ann Imaging can help! We can provide presentations on an assortment of topics from “How to Take Better Photos” and “How to Get the Most Out of Your Point-And-Shoot” to basic Photoshop seminars. Our presentations are short (15 - 20 minutes) and simple enough for anyone to understand, yet have great info for the more advanced.

We’ve all seen the photos of athletes, or even children, running and having fun. Sometimes, though, when you are shooting Johnny playing soccer, the image is a little blurry. Maybe the players are, maybe the ball is, but the scene is not exactly what you had in mind because of the blur.
What is very likely your problem when a high speed object is blurry is that your shutter speed is too slow. Camera shutter speeds are usually measured in fractions of seconds. While a general portrait may be fine at 1/60 of a second, you may need a shutter speed of up to 1/2500 of a second to capture high speed sports such as baseball. Unfortunately, many point and shoot cameras don’t allow easy manipulation of shutter speed, especially when set on “AUTO”. To further complicate things, when you manually manipulate shutter speed, other settings must be compensated to account for the faster shutter. You see, when the shutter speeds up, less light is let into the sensor, requiring that you compensate other settings or your image may be too dark. Whew! Lots to think about!
The morale? Read about your camera and learn to shoot on “MAN”, or manual. This will allow you to speed up your shutter, and adjust the other settings to compensate, to perfectly freeze that action for a perfect sports portrait!

Well, Colorado was everything we expected it to be and more. We would have blogged sooner, but there was no wi-fi where we were. There was a great view, however. This was the view just a few steps outside of our room:

We did have a few spare moments for recreation also. Here is Laura and I at the Garden of the Gods, a beautiful place! Photo by Dylan!

We got to Breck on Wednesday evening, a little woozy from the altitude, just in time for a beautiful sunset.

The wedding was great, and wedding party had heap big fun, as evidenced below!

We’ll post more later…

Well, here we are in Amarillo, on our way to Colorado for the wedding. I didn’t think we would EVER get from Lubbock to Amarillo. The drive may be far, but at least it’s boring…..Amarillo is about 4800 feet higher than we were two days ago in Victoria.
Temp here this evening - 65 degrees!! Wonderful! Tomorrow we cross into New Mexico and Colorado, can’t wait. We’ll ascend about 3000 feet higher tomorrow.
We were amazed at how many electric generating windmills we saw between Abilene and Lubbock - there must have been hundreds of them!

Next week Erick and I are headed to Aggieland for our yearly Texas Professional Photographers Association School of Professional Photography. While most states have a school such as this, the Texas School is regarded nationwide as one of the best in the nation.
I’ll be studying with a brilliant wedding photographer out of California named Hanson Fong, while Erick will be studying with a photographer out of Arkansas named Jim Cunningham. Erick will be learning to take our amazing images and create truly unique fine art from them by digital painting.
We’ll let you know how the week goes!
